Ruhani — the soul, the spirit. Ajrakh is one of the world's most complex textile techniques, requiring 23 steps and months of master craftsmanship.

The 23-Step Ajrakh Process

Ajrakh begins with mordanting the silk in natural dyes — indigo, madder root, pomegranate rind — then hand-blocking intricate patterns. Each block is pressed by hand. Each color requires a separate bath. The final piece is the result of generations of knowledge, compressed into months of labour.

Why Ajrakh Silk?

  • UNESCO-Recognized Craft: On UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list
  • Natural Dyes Only: Madder, indigo, pomegranate — no synthetic chemicals
  • Investment Piece: These sarees increase in value with age
  • Worn by Royalty: Historically favoured by palace collections
  • One-of-a-Kind: Hand-blocked means no two patterns are identical

Fabric: Dola Silk

Dola silk is premium silk fabric with a subtle shimmer and substantial drape. Lightweight enough for summer, luxurious enough for festivals.

Care

Dry clean recommended. If hand washing, use tepid water and pH-neutral soap. Hang to dry. Store in breathable muslin. Ajrakh pieces only improve with age.
